Reflections

Teachers meeting this standard should be able to inform their students of the legal and ethical rules to follow when using digital information and technology. The goal of this standard is to educate responsible digital citizens for their social interactions. Preparing our students for learning and understanding multiculturalism though digital age communication and collaboration softwares or platforms. Teachers should first be fully aware of these rules and legal issues of violation. With the easier access to open resources online, students are more likely to violate copyright laws, therefore, teachers should have their own behavior code for the students online conducts.

The first artifact is an online course I created through Canvas. One advantage of Canvas over Blackboard is that it is a free LMS to use. The main functions of LMS include management of learners, management of curriculum, tracking and recording of learning activities and summary of the who instruction and learning activities. Canvas is a powerful platform that can not only meet instructors’ need for managing students and managing the course, but also realize online instructions. The second artifact is a research paper what is talk about open educational resources. Open Educational Resources (OER) is defined as resources developed by academics for supporting learning, research (or teaching) that are available online for free in the public domain. OER can be in various formats, which can be used alone or be integrated into other resources. Studying students’ attitudes toward OER has some practical meaning for different fields. The last artifact is a video reflection about instructional design. This video is my video reflection of IT 720. The video shows the definition of instructional design, the theories, some models and some my thoughts of instructional design.

Future learning goals

My future learning goals for this standard will be learning the most important internet laws and internet-related issues of today. I will also be commited to the application of relevant laws into my daily teaching in the online context. I will connect my teaching and classroom practices with the internet laws to create my own online code of conduct to protect my students from the open information online. The internet code of conduct will also prevent my students from misconduct online.
